About Aerial Beats…

Who?

Aerial Beats is run by professional aerialist and coach Tina Kerridge. Originally from Newcastle, Tina moved away from home at 18 to pursue a career in the performing arts. On that journey she found the Aerial Arts and never looked back! She is so excited to be bringing these classes to her home town and share her knowledge with you all!

When?

We run weekly after school and evening classes for children and adults. To see all of the class info, including times and prices please click here.

Adult and Children’s classes are both now running with the relaxation of lockdown rules. Children’s classes continue to run through school holidays.

What?

Aerial Beats specialises in Aerial Silks, Aerial Rope (corde lisse) and Aerial Hoop. The facility has 6.9m of height which means there is lots of spaces to learn the skills required. There are 6 pulley points which makes the changing of equipment easy and it means if you have your own that can be rigged too!

We hope to branch into more aerial disciplines in the future!

Why?

The benefits of participating in aerial…

  • It will make you functionally stronger and you will find a trust in your body that you wouldn’t believe

  • It is great for our mental well being and mindfulness and you can’t think of anything else while in the air!

  • It will improve your coordination and flexibility

  • The aerial community is welcoming, accepting and supportive. We celebrate all of the little wins and celebrate our differences!

Where?

The classes are based at Danceplex in North Tyne Industrial Estate. Danceplex runs dance classes in street, commercial and acro and now has the addition of 6 aerial circus points!

How?

You will start with the basics of aerial and once these have been mastered the coaches will start to develop and add on harder skills at a rate you feel comfortable. The coaches will also push you, as it is sometimes the fear of the unknown that hold us back from our capabilities.

The aerial rigging points have been installed by professional aerial riggers Newtons Ladder. Aerial Beats carries out 3 monthly checks on all aerial equipment to ensure it is safe for human use!

“Hello everyone, I’m so glad you are here as that means you are thinking about starting your aerial journey! A daunting task I believe, and I know as I have been through it myself!

Aerial is something that will teach you determination, patience, make you stronger and fitter then you could ever imagine. I started as a professional Musical Theatre Performer and I thought nothing could compare to my 9-5pm gruelling dance training. Then I stumbled across Aerial! The people who taught me made it look so easy! My first class I tried to climb the silks 3 times and then sat on a crash mat absolutely flabbergasted as to how I was ever going to be able to do what they were asking me!

Fast forward a few years and the things I have done since that moment sitting on a crash mat I would never have believed, I have…

  • Directed Summer Children’s Circus Camps in America where I taught Flying Trapeze and more!

  • Performed with the Venardo’s Circus as a lead aerialist

  • Managed a circus school in London and was the Head of the Youth Programme

  • Performed Silks in the Olympia Horse Show Finale

  • Performed at the opening of The Brit Awards with Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Show!

My experience has taught me Aerial is for ALL! No competition, no judgement all you need to do is turn up! I would love to help you start your aerial journey!”
